Location

The Town of Sylvan Lake is located in the County of Red Deer #23, in Central Alberta. It is 16 km west of Red Deer, 161 km north of Calgary, and 161 km south of Edmonton, making it central to one of Canada's hottest economic centers, the Edmonton - Calgary Corridor.

Community Lifestyle

The Town of Sylvan, with its serene blue waters and smooth sandy beaches, rests on the southeast bank of Sylvan Lake in Central Alberta. It is located 18 km west of Red Deer and halfway between Calgary and Edmonton. Sylvan Lake is ranked as one of the top two lake resorts in Alberta. The lake itself has an area of 42.8 square km and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the province. The long freshwater lake offers bronze-bodied visitors a vast range of outdoor activities such as swimming, water skiing, wake boarding, fishing, jet skiing and boating during the heat of the summer months. During the winter, when the lake freezes over, pastimes such as skating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing prevail. Notable attractions in Sylvan Lake include the Waterslide Park and the many shops and restaurants.
